Ice Queen.

Urgh, what is it with guys, seriously?

I went out for drinks with work last Friday night and this is what happened...

But first... back story! There's a guy I work with, who is actually an alright guy and we have a lot in common, but I have absolutely no interest in him like that, I think you know what I mean. But anyway, a couple of years ago, we became friends and for a while it was cool, hanging out at work and having someone to talk to about bands etc. But then we went to the movies (as friends!) and then out to see a band (as friends!) and after that things got weird.

Maybe it was naive of me to think that it is possible for a guy and a girl to hang out with each other as friends, because apparently this is not possible. At least with this guy.

I got the impression he wanted more than just being friends, you know, so distanced myself and in response, he turned all passive agressive and starting making comments about me at work etc. Nothing terrible, just little jabs etc, but enough that other people noticed and commented on it.

Of course, this made me like him even less, and thereafter he was dubbed "the stalker".

And I'm just not interviewing for new stalkers right now.

So we kind of stopped talking for a while and just maintained some semblence of civility at work. Then one weekend he got drunk and emailed me, saying that he thought he was a catch and even though he was no longer interested, why wasn't I interested at the time, etc etc. I emailed him back and told him in no uncertain terms that we were just friends and I never had any intention nor gave him any indication that we were or would ever be anything more than that.

Over time, we became friends again. Never good friends, but friends nonetheless.

So that brings us to last Friday. Work drinks.

None of my friends were there, so I kind of got stuck talking to this guy, which was fine. For a while. But then he starts in on how I never tell anyone at work anything about my personal life. Um...with good reason! As if I need everyone at work talking about what I do outside of said work. Think I'll pass on that one. But anyway, when I wouldn't tell him anything about what I was doing on the weekend or what was going on, he started calling me an ice queen and making derisive comments again. Urgh.

I just ignored him, but still left shortly thereafter, sick of him, drunk people and their banal, moronic conversation.

So cool story, huh? But that's not the point of it.

The crunch comes when he texts me the next day and asks me to the movies again.

Fucking urgh. Get the fucking message.

Besides, I'm apparently an ice queen, so you'll do well to leave me alone.

Love you guys! <3 *dances*

EDIT: I wasn't even going to mention any of this, but this is what happens when you get stuck at the airport for two hours...

  1. Boys are stoopid. We may have had this discussion previously--or perhaps that was me comforting my teenager.

No matter, they are stupid. It's a known fact.

  2. Thank you, Michele! <3

I am glad I am not the only one that has to deal with stupid boys. I wish we didn't, but as you said, it's a known fact.

I still refuse to believe they are all like that, but have yet to be proven different. :)

  3. Well, OK, they're not ALL like that, but the sad fact is the majority of them are. The good ones get more difficult to find all the time. What the hell are parents doing (or not doing) with their sons that neglects to teach them manners and common sense?

  4. Man he really needs to buy a clue or seriously just open his eyes i can't believe hes still saying things like *Ice Queen* to you man *facepalm* and not all of them are like that but agreeing with that most of them are but it is possible for a girl and a guy to hangout and be friends with nothing else there but a friendship i have them :D <3

  5. Stalker Douche.

Notihng more needs to be said about him.

But I think yes you can, but they are just as bad as being friends with the worst kind of girls. You get good friends, then you get the ones you want to bash over the head with a frypan, repeatedly.

And for the Ice Queen commment, unless it's Hardcore Ice Queen, Supreme, that shit doesn't fly. :D
